More about Spot Devices

Core Values
Spot Devices is a customer-focused, solutions-oriented technology company that provides effective, cost-efficient pedestrian and school zone safety solutions.

Company History
Spot Devices commitment to pedestrian and school zone safety began in 2004 in San Jose, CA. One of the first to combine wireless, solar and LED technologies to create dynamic warning lights at crosswalks, Spot Devices quickly established itself as a leader in the industry.

Following an investment by HAWS Corporation, a 100 year-old water safety and water delivery company, Spot Devices moved to an ISO-9001 facility located in Sparks, Nevada in late 2005.

Improving Safety through Technology
Relying on the expertise of its accomplished engineering staff, which includes two former NASA engineers, Spot Devices invested heavily in server-based, browser-enabled, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication technologies. The result was a product platform that changed the way customers manage their pedestrian safety enterprise.

The System Infrastructure Management Application, or SIMA, was launched in early 2008. SIMA enables remote management, proactive issue reporting and system health alerts from pedestrian and school zone safety systems via any browser-enabled computing device, such as a desktop computer, notebook or smartphone. With SIMA, traffic engineers, facilities directors, safety managers and school principals can manage their systems from any location with internet access, streamlining maintenance and improving the safety of pedestrians.
